Founded by Liam Richards, Excel Martial Arts has been serving the Sheffield community for more than 15 years. In 2024, we became a Not-For-Profit organisation (CIC), to fulfil our mission of being a true heart of the community and to run for the benefit of our students. We have the experience to help bring out the best in everyone. That means everything from confidence and focus, to self-belief and a positive mindset.
It is our mission to exceed your expectations and offer you an experience you’ll never find anywhere else.

LIAM RICHARDS
5th Degree Black Belt
Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Liam started his Martial Arts journey at the age of 7 & has now been training in Martial Arts for over 25 years.
He achieved black belt at the age of 10 years old, competing in over 200 competitions from age 8-18 all over the world & won many British, European and World titles on the England Team.
In 2005, he was invited to take part in the UK XMA Team & was coached by the Blue Power Ranger, Mike Chat, performing all over the world, touring with Jean Claude Van Damme.
In 2007, he created and launched Excel Martial Arts. He qualified as a life coach in 2012. In 2013 he was awarded International Martial Artist of the Year in Texas, USA by my coaches and their students.
